The living spaces, sailing comfort, sensations under sail and cruising budget will not be the same if you sail a monohull or a multihull.
The monohull
Choosing a monohull sailboat offers great sailing sensations, and ensures better upwind sailing. On the other hand, you'll have to accept that the boat may be heeled at times.
It's also easier to find a berth with a monohull.
Berths in marinas are less expensive than those on a catamaran. Similarly, customs taxes take into account the boat model, and monohulls are taxed less than multihulls.
Finally, monohull charter is accessible to all budgets.
The catamaran
Choosing a catamaran means more stable and peaceful sailing. On the other hand, a catamaran tends to hit the waves.
It offers unrivalled living space, with greater privacy, and often larger water reserves and storage spaces.
The costs of a catamaran are generally higher: berths, customs taxes, rental of the boat itself, but the capacity of the boat means that several people can set off together and divide the costs.
The trimaran
The trimaran is making a name for itself among sailing and gliding enthusiasts. Indeed, the sensations under sail are the most important.
It offers a pleasant living space, and can be a good compromise between a monohull and a catamaran.
